I have focused the past 15 years of my career counseling youth and individuals who are expereincing difficult changes. My focus has been on helping teens and their families develop assertiveness, coping and anger management skills to assist them in dealing more effectively with peer pressure, low self esteem, emotional problems, peer pressure, substance abuse, educational difficulties and family communication. Teens require new skills to deal with the stress that comes with adolescence and developing a new identity. Through my work I have developed several groups and individual curriculums that help my clients build these skills.

I have worked extensively in the mental health field in government and non profit agencies before venturing into private practice. I started my career in Buffalo New York. I was employed in Day treatment clinics, psychiatric facilities, community clinics and schools. My role was to assist my clients in increasing their daily functioning levels.

I moved to California in 1994 and was employed at the Braille Institute. I worked with young and older adults with partial and no vision. I then worked for the mental health association and the county of orange in adult and children and youth services. I continue to work in the Juvenile Justice system and family resource centers in the community.

My love is working with adolescents, their families and also individuals going through difficult transitions that life presents us.

I received my Masters of Science Degree in Counselor Education from Canisius College in Buffalo New York (1994). I received my Bachelors degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1990. My areas of extensive work and dissertation were on Psychiatric Rehabilitation in young adulthood and the effect of Emotions in Stress related Health disorders.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, license #36886, Nationally Certified Counselor #40363 and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor #31149.

  From Carl Rogers...
  THINK ABOUT IT...
It's not what happens TO you, but what happens IN you, It's not what you DO, but who you are BECOMING.
Frustration produces anger and anger produces an "I don't care" attitude.
"The only person who cannot be helped is the person who blames others."

  From Carol Burnett...
"I have always grown from my problems and challenges, from things that don't work out; that's when I've really learned."
